What is a doula?

She isn’t the midwife, or the doctor. She doesn’t catch any babies, but she does hold the mom. She is emotional and physical support. Her bag is full of tricks, and probably some massage tools, too. She understands birth inside and out, and she wants to help you understand the process as well. She has answers, and if she doesn’t, she has resources. She won’t replace your partner, but she will definitely team up with them, and give them helpful suggestions to better support you. Her presence is calm, and her demeanor is soft but strong. Her goal is to give you the tools to make your own decisions and feel confident in them. She wants to show you that your birth experience matters, and that having her will make for a better outcome because she believed in you, and made you believe in yourself too.

Helping mothers build the confidence needed, to trust in their ability to birth their babies.

I am a strong supporter of the physiological process of labor and birth. My belief is that birth needs little to no intervention, and lots of learning beforehand. Trusting your body and knowing how to get through your waves are the most important tools, and I want to guide you through it all.
